The Back-to-School Edit: SM Home’s Curated Finds for the Smartest School Year Yet

From bento boxes that survive a backpack to study desks built for long afternoons, here's what SM Home is putting on the shelf this May — with select pieces at up to 50% off.

Every school year has a shopping list. The notebooks, the uniforms, the new shoes. But the list that quietly matters most is the one that lives at home — the containers that hold the baon, the desk where the homework gets done, the small things that turn a corner of the house into a place a child can focus.

This May, SM Home is unveiling its curated back-to-school edit as part of a month-long program kicked off by Start Smart for School, the latest installment of SM Home Masterclass happening Friday, May 22 at SM Home Megamall. The in-store event opens the conversation; the curated edit then runs across the full month — at SM Home Megamall and participating branches nationwide — with selected pieces offered at promotional pricing of up to 50% off.

Here is a closer look at what made the edit, and why.

    For baon

    • Locknlock Stainless Lunch Box with Divider (700ml) — now ₱879 from ₱1,099. The workhorse. The divider keeps rice and ulam where they belong; the stainless steel stays cool to the touch and survives years of being thrown into a bag.
    • Locknlock Yummy Vacuum Lunch Box — now ₱1,999.20 from ₱2,499. For the families packing soup, sinigang, or anything that needs to arrive warm. A small upgrade with an outsized impact on what you can actually send.
    • Thermos Vacuum Insulated Bottle (530ml / 710ml) — from ₱1,839.20. The bottle that keeps cold drinks cold from morning drop-off to dismissal. Two sizes for two age groups.
    • Locknlock Glass Food Keepers (Cube Series) — from ₱399.20. Not for the lunchbox itself but for the prep — the meal that gets cooked Sunday night and portioned out for the week.
    • Locknlock Handy Lunchbag — ₱1,199. The carrier that completes the kit. Insulated, structured, and big enough to fit a lunchbox plus a

Thermos without forcing the kid to choose.

    For the study zone

    • Moment Study Table — now ₱7,195 from ₱7,995. The desk that anchors the room. Clean lines, a working surface that fits a laptop and a notebook side by side, and a footprint that works for both a private bedroom and a shared sibling setup.
    • Hosh Study Shelf — now ₱4,796 from ₱5,995. The vertical storage that keeps the desk surface clear. Open shelving where books, supplies, and the small things a child wants nearby can all live within reach.
    • Knit Office Chair — now ₱1,500 from ₱2,495. The accessible chair. Breathable, supportive enough for a long homework session, and gentle on the budget when you need more than one.
    • Lunarx Rechargeable Table Lamp — ₱599. Built for the energy-conscious household. Charges during the day, works through a power interruption, and gives a child their own pool of light when the rest of the house has wound down.
    • Mr. Big Rebacka Back Support Pillow — now ₱3,199.20 from ₱3,999. The small comfort upgrade that makes a difference when the homework runs longer than expected.

    For the system around it

    • Umbra Bellwood Organizer Series — from ₱1,499. The countertop and desk organizers that keep the small stuff in order. A lazy susan for the kitchen baon station, a packet organizer for the desk, a bin organizer for the cabinet.
    • Charlotte Basket with Chalkboard — from ₱549. Labelable storage. The chalkboard panel means the basket can be “Snacks” today and “Art Supplies” next quarter — easier to maintain because the system is visible.
    • Imarflex Aromatech Coffee Maker — ₱1,999. Not for the kid. For the parent who is now the chief operations officer of the school morning.

All featured pieces will be on the floor at SM Home Megamall, Lower Ground, SM Store, Megamall Building B during Start Smart for School on Friday, May 22 at 2:00 PM — and across participating branches nationwide for the full month of May, while supplies last. The kickoff event itself is open to invited media and SM Home Makers, with a hands-on bento assembly session led by Nikki Garcia (@mrsnikkigarcia_) and a Study Zone walkthrough featuring Teacher Mariel Martinez of Project Playtime (@project.playtime).

“Our job as a curator is to make the choices simpler,” said Janice T. Yang, Business Unit Head of SM Home. “You shouldn’t have to know every brand in the market to set up your family for the school year. You should be able to walk in, see what works, and trust that we have already done the editing.”

Start Smart for School is the third installment of SM Home Masterclass, the brand’s 2026 headline campaign positioning SM Home as the ultimate home curator. Each monthly Masterclass kicks off a theme that runs across the full month — through online content, expert-led conversations, and in-store promotions on featured items. Previous editions have covered sleep wellness (Best Sleep 101, March) and summer entertaining (The Smart Summer Home Masterclass, April).

Guests will also enjoy exclusive deals of up to 50% off on select back-to-school must-haves — available at all SM Home branches nationwide throughout the month of May.
