Have you heard about the new Peter Pan & Wendy (2023) movie on Disney+? I recently watched it with my 7-year-old daughter, and let me tell you, we both loved it!
The movie follows Wendy Darling, a young girl who meets the boy who never grows up, Peter Pan. Together with Wendy’s brothers and Tinker Bell, they go on a magical adventure to Neverland and encounter the infamous Captain Hook, leading to an exciting battle.
As a mom, I was thrilled to see a new adaptation of such a classic tale. My daughter had never seen the original 1953 animated movie, so this was her introduction to the world of Peter Pan. And I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with this new take on the story.
One thing that stood out to me was the exploration of the backstories of Peter and Hook. It added more depth to their characters and made the story more engaging. My daughter and I found ourselves invested in their journeys and rooting for them in their own unique ways.
And then there’s the cast. I have to give a special shoutout to Jude Law, who delivered an exceptional performance as Captain Hook. He was so convincing in the role that my daughter was genuinely scared of him at times! But it was also a testament to Law’s talent as an actor, as he managed to make the character more complex and believable.
But the real star of the movie for us was Ever Anderson, who played Wendy. She was simply fantastic, and her chemistry with Alexander Molony’s Peter Pan was heartwarming to watch. My daughter was in awe of her acting skills, and it was great to see a strong female character taking charge and leading the way in the story.
As for the rest of the cast, they all did a great job in their respective roles. Alyssa Wapanatâhk was a standout as Tiger Lily, and Yara Shahidi brought the right amount of spunk and attitude to Tinker Bell. It was also fun to see Molly Parker and Jim Gaffigan in supporting roles, adding some humor and heart to the story.
What I appreciated about the movie was how it managed to stay true to the original story while introducing new elements that made it more exciting. There were some new sweet and deep angles to the story that I thought were well done, and it made me appreciate the tale of Peter Pan even more.
All in all, I highly recommend the new Peter Pan & Wendy movie on Disney+. It’s a great family-friendly adventure that offers something for everyone. The special effects are impressive, the cast is talented, and the story is engaging. Plus, it’s a great way to introduce your kids to a classic tale that has stood the test of time.
