According to the Department of Health (DOH), an estimated 3.6 million Filipinos are facing various types of mental health issues caused by the COVID pandemic. And although the pandemic is waning, its lasting impact continues to be felt on our mental health. That is why it is more important now, more than ever, to be more attuned with our mental well-being.

This is why events like World Mental Health Day are growing more and more relevant. World Mental Health Day is commemorated every October 10 to raise awareness about mental health issues and mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

This year, Araneta City is actively participating in activities that promote mental well-being through a slate of events and promos that are taking place both on-ground and online. Here are some of the things that the City of Firsts is doing to help you #MindYourMind.

    1. Get words of affirmation at the Motivation Wall.

There are days that seem more difficult than others, and to get through it, all we need is the positive, affirming words of those who love us and value us most. To help us keep going, the City of Firsts will erect a Motivation Wall at the Gateway Mall Activity Area.

It will be accessible to the public from October 10 to 15. So be sure to visit and take on all the positive words you’ll see at the Motivational Wall!

    1. Learn how to keep mentally healthy.

To help us navigate the complex topic of ensuring our mental well-being, Araneta City is conducting the #MindYourMind World Mental Health Day Virtual Forum on October 10 at 3 PM. To be livestreamed on Araneta City’s Facebook page, the virtual program will feature three speakers who will talk about various topics concerning mental health.

Bb. Pilipinas 2022 2nd Runner-Up Stacey Gabriel, a mental health advocate, will discuss how she kept her mental fortitude throughout her Bb. Pilipinas journey. Alyannah Lagasca, National Chairperson of Youth for Mental Health Coalition, will discuss Republic Act 11036 or the Mental Health Law. Dr. Gia Sison, Head of the Makati Medical Center Wellness Center, will lead the talk on “Compassion Fatigue & Burnout: How to overcome it.”

Make sure you don’t miss out on this informative session!

    1. Tag someone and get a chance to relax and bond together.

It’s important for all of us to have that one person or group that will help us vent out, decompress, and escape the hassles of everyday life. To appreciate these special people, the City of Firsts is launching a social media promo called “Tag your Person”.

Mechanics is simple: just mention your person under Araneta City’s social media post about this promo. Three winners will be chosen for a chance to win GCs from Four Season Hot Pot and Sandiwa Hilot Spa. This promo runs from October 9 to 11. Join now and have the opportunity to give back to your person through a relaxing and filling day off!
