4 Ways to Fight Coronavirus Lockdown Boredom

It’s been a year since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I’m sure some or most of us are feeling trapped or getting cabin fever. That’s why I wanted to share some ideas for activities that could help people ease their loneliness, fear, and boredom to make dealing with the COVID-19 virus a little bit less difficult. If you’re starting to feel the symptoms of lockdown boredom already then check out my prescription of fun activities for the whole family.

Dance your blues away.  Dancing can be both fun and fulfilling even if you don’t know how to dance. Just listening and moving with the music can already uplift your mood. Plus, it’s a great way to exercise. You can always dance by yourself, or invite your friends via video conferencing for some online dance party!

Get everyone on Board. Invite your kids to play board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, or Uno with you. This is a great way to give your kids some screen break while bonding with the whole family. And don’t forget about puzzles. Puzzles can keep your brain busy during quarantine by putting together pieces of puzzles. This is more fun when done with friends and family but you can also do this on your own. It will certainly keep you busy for hours.

Watch stuff online. Sometimes we do need to watch a show or movie and just chill! Binging on a good Netflix series is an excellent way to fight lockdown boredom. You can go from K-drama to bingeable reality TV, here’s your chance to catch up on everything. So, grab a snack and settle in with one of the stellar shows currently on Netflix.

Play Online Games. Playing video games on game consoles and computers are favorite pastime activities for kids and teens since the 80’s. Now people across all age groups benefit from the entertainment value of online games. Although there were concerns on the ill effects of computer games, experts say that video games do have psychological benefits. These include fostering family bonding, promoting fun and friendly competition among peers, and forming social connections both online and offline. To help others during this difficult time, some game developers and website owners are offering their games for free. plays.org is offering a collection of dozens of fun and free HTML5 video games.

I’ve actually tried using their site and I had a great time with it. They’ve got classic games that appeal to both kids and adults alike. I think even the elderly will enjoy it. All-time favorites like Super Tetris, Neon Invaders, Flight Sim Simulation were all there. The best thing I liked about it is that they don’t have ads on the site. Free online games usually have ads that pop up in the middle of the game, and this can be both distracting and annoying. It’s really refreshing to find a site that lets you enjoy free games without interruption. As a result, plays.org is now bookmarked on my devices.

Dance, watch, play, or do all? These are simple solutions that can help you deal with lockdown boredom. It doesn’t matter which one you pick, the important thing is for you to enjoy and have fun while doing it.
