Coca-Cola Concert ng Bayan unites Pinoy Artists and Top Local Bands to Celebrate 100 Years of Happiness

It was a one big night filled with music and dancing as Coca Cola Philippines celebrated its 100th anniversary last March 23 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds and simultaneously shown live in key locations nationwide including SM Baguio, SM Lucena, SM Cebu and SM Davao and streamed via coca-cola.com.ph.

The 12-hours grand musical event, dubbed as Concert ng Bayan is one of numerous ways of Coca-Cola Philippines in expressing their appreciation to those who patronizes the brand. It featured a stellar line-up of solo artists and top local bands (including Parokya ni Edgar with Gloc 9, Sandwich with 6-Cycle Mind, Callalily with Ebe Dancel, Rico Blanco with Never the Strangers and Itchyworms, SpongeCola with Chicosci, Pupil and Wolfgang) who performed mash-up numbers of their popular hits and of course, 100 years of Coca-Cola music!

Concert ng Bayan kicked off as early as 3pm, with performances by Nvoyz and Koreen Medina. Followed by refreshing beats spun by DJ Q-York!

Too bad I missed the performances of Nvoyz, Koreen Medina and DJ Q-York, I was still in Diamond Hotel for Craig David’s press conference.

Yes, Craig David was in Manila! He took a 17-hour flight from Miami to Manila to be part of Philippine music history and to open and share the sound of happiness across the whole nation with Coca-Cola!!

After the press conference, I, together with other bloggers, headed to the venue!

    All Access Pass! Yeah!

Upon arrival, Itchyworms were on stage already! Itchyworms performed 5 of their best hits (Akin, Love Team, Suplado, Beed and Gusto) and did a collaboration (Muli) with Ebe Dancel.

Ebe Dancel played both his new songs and old Sugarfree songs (Isang Probinsyano sa Maynila, Huwag Kang Mag-alala, Paalam Kahapon and Hari ng Sablay)

Ebe went on to sing  Tulog Na as Kean Cipriano (Callalilly) came onto the stage. As expected, the crowd went wild especially the girls (including me) hahaha!

Kean Cipriano ~ Callalily performed Wala, Susundan, Stars, Pawiin, Liwanag and Magbalik

    Sandwich

    Sandwich frontman Raimund Marasigan

I can’t say nothing more to Raimund. I love his outfit! I love his energy! I love everything about Raimund! Who doesn’t? He’s the one of the most energetic and the best fronts I ever saw.

I love this shot! Diego Castillo and Mong Alcaraz of Sandwich

Raimund and Jay Durias doing a collab! With A Smile is one of the favorites! They also performed their rock version of  South Border‘s Kahit Kailan!

    Tutti Caringal of 6CycleMind

    Eunice of GraceNote

    Kleggy Abaya (Banda ni Kleggy)

The crowd gone wilder as Basti Artadi of Wolfgang went on stage!  To my surprise, Gloc-9 joined Wolfgang as he was rapping to Halik Ni Hudas”. Wolfgang + Gloc-9 = very nice collaboration of a great band and a great rapper!

After getting the crowd wild with Wolfgang and Gloc-9 collaboration, the happiness continues with Parokya Ni Edgar!

It didn’t take too long before things heated up, as the band’s first song, “Buloy,” got some people up and dancing, or at least shaking their bodies!

Parokya ni Edgar!! The best, as always! They made the crowd (including me) sing, dance, and even laugh!

Rez Toledo aka Somedaydream is such a cutie!

One the much awaited artist of the night: Princess of Pop Sarah Geronimo

Watch her performance during Coca Cola Concert ng Bayan!

Sarah Geronimo is totally awesome! She’s a complete package of entertainment!!!

Around 11pm, when Mr Pure Energy went on stage and energized the crowd with happiness! The crowd started dancing as Gary Valenciano  performed his greatest hits!  His fast, upbeat songs, helped to create a festive atmosphere, as some people in the crowd got up and danced along with the music.

His son Gabriel Valenciano also joined him on stage.

Gary Valenciano and Sarah Geronimo as well as fast-rising electro-pop artist Somedaydream performed the infectiously fun and upbeat, chart-topping Coca-Cola 100 Years anniversary anthem, Tuloy.

We also got the coolest treat of all in the middle of the concert party with the presentation of Coke’s 100 Years Celebration. We were served with a big block of Coke happiness through a projection mapping at the facade of One E-Comm Tower 2 in MOA.

It’s a dream come true for me to see Craig David perform live!!! He wooed the audience with crowd favorites “Walking Away”, “Time To Party”, “Fill Me In”, “7 Days”, “Friday Night”, “Don’t Love You No More (I’m Sorry)”, and “Insomnia”.

The party went on as Never the Strangers went on to sing “Get Closer” and later joined by Rico Blanco as they performed “Your Universe”.

    Rico Blanco

Sponge Cola performed some of their greatest hits: “Tambay”, “Di Na Mabawi”, “Stargazer”, “Kay Tagal Kitang Hinitay” and “Bitiw”

Yael Yuzon even sang his own rendition of “I Will Always Love You” =) Kulit lang!

    Miggy Chavez of Chicosci

It was past midnight but the crowd went absolutely wild when it was Chicosci‘s turn to rock the show!

Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for! Ely Buendia and his band Pupil! I ♥ Ely Buendia =)

That’s not all! The high-spirited Coca-Cola Happiness President Caloy also made an appearance before legions of fun-loving teens, sharing a few words of happiness and thanksgiving for the constant and unmatched support Pinoys are giving Coca-Cola.

This was so far the longest hour event that I have attended ever since. Though it did not require me to watch the full concert, from beginning to end, I opted to as it was “all about happiness” feeling that Coca Cola expresses.

That’s me with Caloy, Coca-Cola’s President for Happiness

No question, the epic Coca-Cola Concert ng Bayan signals the start of a summer filled with even bigger surprises as the 100th year celebration of Coca-Cola gets to a whole new high. And we can only be sure our favorite beverage brand shall continue to collaborate with every single Pinoy to give the whole nation nothing less than refreshing happiness!

I would’ve loved to hear the rock version of Kahit Kailan and of course their version of With a Smile, that’s one of my dad’s faves.. 😛

I scored two tickets for the show, but I was not able to go 🙁 It would’ve been a wonderful experience to see Craig David, Ely Bundia + all the other Filipino rock bands in one show! 🙁

Wow! Looks like you really had fun. I keep a sort of a booklet of Coca-cola’s history as part of our coffee table reading materials. They have a really nice and interesting history. And to be part of their 100 years of happiness celebration must be really a one-of-a-century experience for you.
