Doll Domination is the perfect follow-up for the previous, self-titled album of The Pussycat Dolls. This time around, the girls comprise of a power line- up that may have lost one doll in the process, but the honed talents of the girls were able to compensate for the loss. In the deluxe edition of the album, the girls showcase their individual talents with a bonus CD that include songs sung by each member. It also includes the pre-empted song from the re-scheduled debut album of Nicole Scherzinger, Baby Love. Even before its release, utmost hype and excitement was given to the first single, When I Grow Up. Even with the success of their first hit, radio stations and the rest of the music appreciating world was not able to control themselves that they needed to hear more. After a few days, 5 songs were already playing on broadcast radio. The official singles were Whatcha Think About That, I Hate This Part and Happily Never After. These official releases were accompanied by unplanned playback of Out of this Club, Happily Never After and Top of the World.
As if the songs in the original version of Doll Domination weren’t enough, the girls went back to the recording studios for a power collaboration that has never been done before. The story starts with a movie, an Oscar nomination, a grand slam Oscar success, and an Oscar winning soundtrack. The soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire became a world – renowned success in no time. Much recognition was given to the carrier single of the movie, Jai Ho that was originally sung by Indian music sensation, A.R. Rahman. It is only right for an award-winning group to do a rendition of a very traditional song that can keep up with the times. Hence, The Pussycat Dolls released their own version of Jai Ho.
Jai Ho immediately climbed up the charts, becoming a favorite of radio and TV buffs across the metro. It also became a favorite in local noon time shows. Its success was initially expressed through the digital world, becoming one of the most downloaded tracks in PCD history. Due to its success, PCD’s label decided to come up with a revised edition of Doll Domination that included the track.
