Sun Life, a global leader in financial services, recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of its listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) with a ceremonial ringing of the opening bell.
The event was attended by Sun Life’s top executives including Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia; and David Broom, Chief Client and Distribution Officer of Sun Life Asia; Benedict Sison, CEO and Country Head of Sun Life Philippines; JJ Moreno, President of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.; and Michael Enriquez, President of Sun Life Investment Management and Trust Corporation.
They were joined by key stakeholders and distinguished guests from the PSE, namely: Ramon Monzon, President and CEO; Atty. Roel Refran, Chief Operating Officer; Atty. Marigel Baniqued-Garcia, Issuer Regulation Division Head; and Atty. Veronica Del Rosario, General Counsel.
In his message, Singh reflected on the significance of the occasion: “Not only are we celebrating our 25th year in the Philippine Stock Exchange, but we are also celebrating 130 years of being in the Philippines. We began from very humble beginnings in a small Canadian town, but over the last hundred years, we grew to be among global powerhouses in the financial industry; and this is mainly because of our purpose, which is to help our Clients live brighter lives through financial security.”
“Sun Life’s 25-year journey in the local stock market, backed by a solid 130-year existence in the country, is a testament to its unwavering commitment to the country, its Clients, and its stakeholders,” said Ramon Monzon. “On its silver anniversary, we wish Sun Life more years as a successful publicly listed company.”
At exactly 9:30 AM, the PSE’s bells were both rang by Singh and Monzon to signify the opening of the stock market for the day.
