The semi-finals of the nationwide singing-songwriting competition “Your Song Of Excellence: Duo Legacy,” organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and co-presented by its premier partner Derma Angel, wrapped up in spectacular fashion. This round was an electrifying mix of passion, creativity, and musical mastery, as the duos battled it out for a coveted spot in the grand finals.
“As someone that is familiar with all past seasons of Your Song Of Excellence, Derma Angel has to say that the level of excitement this time around is truly something to behold. Each of the semi-finalists gave it their all and it’s inspiring to see how much passion and love they have for their craft, similar to our commitment to celebrate Filipino beauty. The musical talent of Filipinos is undoubtedly worthy of world-class recognition and I am looking forward to how far each of these pairs will go in the music industry,” declares Richard Neo, Sales and Marketing Manager of Derma Angel.
Each pairing showcased impressive songwriting acumen that translated into unforgettable performances both on and offstage. Touching on various genres such as reggae, hip hop, alternative pop, ballads, and more, undoubtedly proving the versatility of the Filipinos’ songwriting capabilities and boldness.
This meant that our celebrity judges Yeng Constantino, Ice Seguerra, Kean Cipriano, and Paulo Zarate certainly had their hands full with deciding on who gets to move forward. With musical director Paulo Zarate himself stating that the challenge this time around is of a different level due to the variety of genres and the pure undeniable skill of the hopefuls.
The musical competencies which the duos displayed already make each of them winners in their own regard, but alas, as with any competition there will only be a chosen few that gets to move on to the grand finals stage. With this knowledge in tow, each semifinalist set out to prove why they are the ones deserving of a spot.
From thousands of auditionees, to twelve amazing semifinalists, now we are down to just three grand finalists. Meet the duos that will go head-to-head for this season’s grand finals stage!

Their challenges don’t end here as their next task is to compose two full songs with the maximum duration of 3:30 minutes, which they will in turn perform live on the grand finals stage. The first being a Taiwan Excellence jingle that must contain the words “Taiwan Excellence” and the tagline “The Best Made In Taiwan”. And the second song will revolve around one of Taiwan Excellence’s core values, to be chosen by the duo and their mentor – innovation, interesting, sustainability and quality.
Who will be the one to claim the ultimate prize and be crowned grand champions? Will it be the entertaining hip hop couple – Mandarhyme Duo? The indie pop aficionados – The Unexpected Duo? Or the reggae virtuosos – HARANAJEEB? Everything has been leading up to this moment.
