Kids are now back in school, and no one is more excited than the parents who love to see their children learn and grow. However, some children can experience uneasiness especially when they’re meeting new teachers and classmates.

As parents, you can manage your kids’ anxieties during this period with these five tips from Lamoiyan Corporation’s Licealiz in case your children are concerned when they go to school.

Adjust their sleeping schedule ahead of time
As summer break may have changed your child’s body clock, it’s best to help them adjust their sleeping schedule at least one week before the first day of school. Minimize their TV watching, gadget usage, or outdoor playtime and let them understand that they need to sleep early for school. That way, their body clock has started to adjust, which prevents them from having a hard time waking up especially if their class is in the morning.

Send them to school on first few days
First day of school with new classmates and teacher can be a little intimidating to your kids, so ensure to free your time to send them to school. Their anxiety in going to a different environment can be eased off if someone familiar is around.

    Encourage them to make friends

One way to get your kid comfortable especially if they feel anxious on the first day of school is to encourage them to make new friends. According to a study by University of Virginia in 2017, making friends is critical for children to enjoy school and learning. Not only does it alleviate their back to school blues, but it also gives them better mental health in times of problems like social anxiety in the future.

    Prepare a night before
It’s easier to go to school especially in the morning if your kids’ things are already set a night before. As a parent, it’s our duty help our children like ironing their uniform, checking their backpacks, or preparing their baon at least a night before. It also lessens the preparation time needed in the morning if the items are all set beforehand.

    Protect them from common ailments
Schools may be the second home for our kids, but it does not mean they are free from common ailments when they’re away from the parents. Aside from keeping them healthy to prevent colds and flu from their classmates, there’s also a common problem occurring in schools you must watch out for – head lice infestation.

A medical check-up by the Department of Education Health and Nutrition of over 3 million public school students showed that 436,325 of them had pediculosis (head lice infestation), making it one of the leading health problems and causes of absenteeism in public schools in the country.

Lamoiyan Corporation’s Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo, through the Kilusang Kontra Kuto (movement against head lice), a coalition of health professionals, industry experts and parents composed of the Department of Education, University of the Philippines College of Public Health (UPCH), Drugstores Association of the Philippines (DSAP), and Mommy Bloggers Philippines, aim to promote the correct way of preventing and treating head lice infestation. Licealiz effectively kills lice and nits after two weeks if used twice a week and prevents lice infestation from recurring if used once a week. That way, your child is safe from head lice infestation, especially when they interact with other kids.

While the kids are young and have yet to explore on their own, it’s our duty as parents to guide them to a more enjoyable and healthier back to school season.
