    Jollibee launches its first mobile app using augmented reality

    With today’s generation where everyone is almost always spending time online and have numerous social media accounts, it is a “must” for each entrepreneur to reach their target customers where the latter are at their most convenient time and place – online. In line with this, being the country’s top fast-food chain, Jollibee, has decided to reveal its first-ever mobile application called JolliDance Showdown app. This is sure to be a big hit among Jollibee fans of all ages, especially the young ones, who are fond of Jollibee, himself!

    This momentous event was held at Ascott Hotel in Bonifacio Global City. It was open to public for them to be able to have the first experience of the JolliDance Showdown mobile application. It made use of the augmented reality (AR) through the utilization of the Jollibee Kids Meal box. Also, this allowed the kids to experience some interactive fun with, of course, no less than the fast-food chain’s famous mascot, Jollibee.

    The event was hosted by radio jock Chico Garcia and mom entrepreneur Bettina Carlos

    Trigger, a renowned mobile app innovation agency based in Los Angeles, California, developed the JolliDance Showdown mobile app. Having made applications for well-known clients such as Sony Pictures, Lionsgate Entertainment, and Lucas Film, this Jollibee mobile app will sure provide the patrons a one-of-a-kind mobile experience!

    During the launching, Trigger shared how they were able to capture the lovable attributes of the all-time Pinoy Favorite mascot, Jollibee, and develop it into an entertaining mobile app. Natasha Weinstein, Trigger’s Senior Director of Client Services shared, “Everyone just really loves going to Jollibee. It struck us an important part of the Philippines’ pop culture.” Before the work has started, the app designers had a quick immersion for them to be able to have a gist on how Jollibee has captured the hearts of the Filipino people. Jason Yim, Trigger’s President and Executive Creative Director, added, “Getting friends involved and getting your own avatar involved, that’s definitely the most fun part. You can’t help but smile when you do it.”

    Among the firsts to get their hands on and try the JolliDance Showdown app were Radio jock Chico Garcia and celebrity/entrepreneur mom, Bettina Carlos, with her daughter Gummy. They were able to witness, through the app, how Jollibee’s friendly face on the Jolly Joy Box transformed into a platform, after which, celebrity guests captured pictures for their screen avatars, chose their image on screen and finally watched Jollibee and friends enjoy the Electro, Pop, and Rock beats.

    Some more features of the mobile app were also explained during the launching event. These include unlocking new characters with every visit to Jollibee branches and scanning the Jolly Kiddie Meal promo board located at the store counters. According to Yim, “The app is pushing how we can engage kids with augmented reality. It’s more than just having characters appear. It’s interactive and gives a much deeper experience.”

    Through the launching event, Jollibee has able to express its extra effort as the leading fast-food brand to boost the langhap-sarap experience of every customer. Francis Flores, Jollibee Global brand chief marketing officer, says of its new partnership, “We are glad to work with Trigger to help enrich the Jollibee experience for children and for the young at heart with the launch of our JolliDance Showdown App. Being the first local fast-food to come up with an augmented reality game, we are very excited for our loyal customers who love Jollibee and Friends, as this gives them an opportunity to interact in a fun way using their mobile phones and tablets.
