The other week, my family (minus my husband) and I went to Rookie Bites Avenue in Marikina (technically it’s in Pasig but Marikina Boundary) to have an ocular visit to a place where my niece’s christening reception will be held. We were planning to have a dessert buffet, which, by the way, WTF Cakes and Baked Goodies also offers. Actually the place had just its soft-opening and has not yet formally launched.
AMBIANCE
As we entered Rookie Bites Avenue, (while we were welcomed by smiling staff), I noticed that the place is not big but neither small, which is perfect. When it comes to interior designs and physical set up, I was sort of “taken aback” because it was not like the other typical restaurants.
The mural, which is water surfing themed, is cool and pleasing to the eyes. It gives a relaxing feeling that makes you forget you are in Metro Manila.
A wakeboard and a bike are both creatively displayed inside; while the skateboard light fixture is also stunning.

I was really impressed by the interiors and I love the hip yet comfy vibe they got there.
FOOD
After a quick ocular inspection, we decided to take a look at their menu and ordered some food. We had a Tinapasta, Chili Garlic Shrimp, Country Style Fried Chicken, and T-bone steak. We also tried their RB Wings and Pork Belly. As for the dessert, since they have only 3 in the menu, we tried them all.
The Tinapasta and the Chili Garlic Shrimp Pasta was served in a typical way and looks simple but when my Mom tried the Tinapasta (of course, I had some, too!) the flavor was something! The fish complemented the taste plus with a squeeze of a little bit of calamansi, it really tasted good.

As for the Chili Garlic Shrimp pasta, well, it was served in a simple plating also, but then again we were surprised at the “kick” of its spiciness! I’m sure my husband will love it especially that he is fond of spicy foods.

For the RB wings, a special sauce was used and it’s not the usual spicy Buffalo wings as it was appealing to the taste that even the kids will love it!

My sister told me that the Country Style Fried Chicken (sadly, I haven’t tried it) tasted really good and it was perfectly crispy in the outside while the inside was delicious. I will definitely try it next time.

For the Grilled Pork Belly, which again I haven’t tasted (but promise to have a bite next time), they said it was delicious, too, and based on my observation on other customers who were there and ordered it, I can tell that they were enjoying their food.

Well, for my T-bone steak, served with rice and mashed potato, and definitely tasted sumptuous also. It was seasoned perfectly and tenderly grilled.

Now for the dessert, we ordered all three ice cream desserts, the Deconstructed S’mores, the Ice Cream Sandwich and the Deep Fried Sponge Cake.

I remembered that when I was a child, I used to buy Ice Cream Sandwich and upon seeing and munching on it, I was temporarily brought back to my childhood days! Hahaha..

Also, another favorite of mine was the S’mores since I am a fan of marshmallows. And let’s face it…who doesn’t love s’mores?! Imagine scooping chocolate syrup and toasted marshmallows with crunchy graham crackers for a dessert!Perfect!

Now, I think you’re kind of drooling while reading this, right? Since Marikina is already known to offer good food to tourists and of course, even to locals, I can definitely say that Rookie Bites Avenue is the newest and the hippest restaurant to visit in Marikina. Really a must-try, you will get your money’s worth, promise! ^_^
