Now taking a vacation does not have to take too much of an effort or a chunk of your budget. You don’t even have to leave the city. The Remington Hotel promises to be your staycation destination of choice. And with a new top-honcho at the helm, more exciting culture-friendly innovations are sure to come.
The launch of the hotel’s Premier Rooms was held last April 30 during the Travel Agents’ Night. These rooms are upgraded versions of the hotel’s service apartments complete with a queen sized bed, a sofa bed, a dining area, an electric kettle, and a refrigerator on top of all the standard amenities.

Assistant Vice President for Hotel Sales and Marketing Christine Anne Ibarreta announced the availability of 25 Premier Rooms for a mere P4,800++ overnight package that already includes buffet breakfast and full refreshment amenities. That’s a real deal considering that the other hotels in the metro come at almost double this rate.

The Remington Hotel is conveniently located near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, right across Terminal 3. Terminals 1 and 2 are also within minutes away. There’s also an airport shuttle available that makes hourly trips round the clock. For business travellers, getting to the commercial districts of Makati and Fort Bonifacio is likewise convenient with only about a 15-minute drive. People who simply want to take a break from the daily grind do not have far to go to enjoy hotel amenities at very affordable rates.
Remington Hotel offers rooms especially adapted for persons with special needs and disabilities, allowing them to enjoy their vacation without impediment. It also offers wheel-chair friendly facilities that make it easy for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to navigate through the hotel’s premises.

Here’s your checklist of staycation activities at the Remington Hotel:
Rest And Relaxation
This is, of course, a given. You want your vacation to allow you to relax and unwind. The Remington Hotel gives you the perfect place to do exactly that. Its standard rooms are equipped with all the amenities that you would find in most hotels – plush queen sized beds fitted with soft and comfortable linen, cable LCD TV, and hot and cold showers.

This hotel takes your security seriously with its in-room safety boxes and electronic doors with a keycard system.
There are also designated smoking areas for those who cannot go without their nicotine fix. You do not have to be totally disconnected from the rest of the world while on vacation because this hotel also has telephone access as well as WiFi facilities.

What I especially liked about the hotel rooms is that the bathrooms are well-appointed. It might be a bit smaller than those in 5-star hotels but it has all the conveniences that I want to have on my vacation. It even has a bidet that most of the other hotels do not have.
With the scorching summer heat, this hotel’s air conditioned rooms offer cool comfort all day – and you don’t have to worry about running up your electric bill. Food is also not a problem since there are vending machines on every floor.
And besides, it’s just a stone’s throw away from the restaurants at Resorts World Manila. The best part about it is that you do not have to prepare breakfast when you get up from your restful slumber. The breakfast buffet selection is not as extensive but the old-time favorites are all there – I really could not ask for more.

Shopping and Dining
Although this does not really qualify as a vacation activity, there are some people who simply cannot hold their shopaholic instincts. Some might not admit it but shopping and dining are relaxing activities too. These activities take your mind off the daily stress and worries – in my book, that’s what vacations are all about. After you have checked in at the Remington Hotel, you can take a trip down to the Newport Mall for some retail therapy. This mall is home to luxury fashion and jewelry brands as well as the most popular boutiques in the country. When you get tired from shopping (or window shopping), you can take pick from the different restaurants in the mall to have a delicious meal. There’s a soon to open restaurant called Hawkers that will specialize in Chinese/Asian cuisine, and will be located at Remington Hotel’s ground floor.
Other restaurants offering cuisines from around the world are also available. And for kids who just can’t stay away from their Happy Meals, there’s a McDonalds branch right at the hotel’s ground floor level.
Entertainment
You cannot run out of entertainment options while staying at the Remington Hotel. Right at your doorstep are the Newport Performing Arts Theater, the Newport Cinemas, the Casino, and the GameZoo.

Newport Ultra Cinema, my favorite, is a cool theater with spacious, comfy, reclining seats, with unlimited popcorn and drinks delivered by personal butlers at your request! And one of the reasons why I love Newport Cinemas is because they have a 24 hour weekend screening perfect for nocturnal creatures like me.
If you’re not into movies, you may catch one of the live performances at Bar 360, or have a few drinks at the Republiq Bar. You can also choose to schedule your trip during one of your favorite theater productions’ runs at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Bring the kids and have some fun with the gaming facilities at GameZoo.
There’s really a lot to do that you cannot possibly fit everything in one weekend. You might just find yourself planning your next staycation at the Remington Hotel even before you check out.
