A day before my birthday getaway, I visited California Nails & Day Spa, where I was invited to try some of their services. Because a list of “to-do” things is waiting in line, I decided to visit the Nail Spa as early as possible so that I can attend to other important matters thereafter. It was a Saturday morning and I expected that the traffic is not that heavy from Rizal to Makati. In short, due to traffic jam, I was a little bit late as scheduled.
Anyway, when I was at the California Nails and Day Spa – Somerset Makati, I was just lucky that I was the first customer for that day.
I decided to avail their full leg waxing and manicure & pedicure services since I will be celebrating my birthday @ the beach. The wax technician, Rose, gladly led me to a room to start the waxing “session”. During the procedure, I learned that Rose was one of the veteran wax technicians of the Spa. She informed me that they’re using Arbré wax. Arbré wax is produced from the finest natural ingredients that’s suitable for both leg and body hair removal. It is free from pine resin so it can be used to even the most sensitive part of the body and still leaves skin feeling soft, silky and smooth.
After 30 minutes, I was surprised that waxing was done! Both legs, fully waxed! Normally, the procedure can last up to an hour or an hour and a half. The pain is bearable that I had still managed to carry out a conversation with Rose.
So the next thing is Gel nail manicure and pedicure. Gel nail polish can last two weeks or more longer than traditional acrylic nail polish.
Koby did the manicure while Lavander took charge of my toe nails. Koby and Lavander are just their screen names and according to them, Ms Leslie Matta (owner) gave them their nick names.
Koby and Lavander did a great job; the latter even took out my ingrown that developed during my last pedicure from other salon. I had a Kyoto Cherry Blossoms for my hands and somewhat reddish orange for my toe nails. I chose these colors because it’s the summer color forecast!
After that, I had a chance to talk to Ms Matta and I sensed her passion with the nature of her business; she even mentioned that she attends conventions and trade fairs related to her business. I also noticed that she’s very strict when it comes to the services they offer that she sees to it that customers are always satisfied. Another thing I liked about California Nails and Day Spa is that, a customer can buy her own manicure kit which will then be labeled and will only be used for that specific customer only. After that, the things inside the kit will be sterilized and kept for the next visit of that customer, or she can opt to take it home and just bring it with her on her next “appointment”; a very hygienic process.
California Nails and Day Spa -Somerset Makati branch is something new because it is not located inside the mall (unlike other spas) and the ambiance is relaxing as well as its color –pink. The place is clean and there’s a parking lot at the back of the building for those who have cars. Aside from the services I availed, the California Nails & Day Spa also offers massage, facial, scrub and something for the kids like nail art. Spa Party is also an option where a group of 5 persons can avail various spa packages at discounted prices.
