Manila Music Festival: A Brand that is Here to Stay

One ground-breaking musical event to rock the nation’s capital, Manila Music Festival explodes this May.

Volume Unit Entertainment (VUE) is an event organizer, production house, artist management group, and all-around game changer that does not go with the flow: VUE creates its own flow and everyone else follows.

VUE is responsible for two of the most successful arts and music festival to date; the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival. The two-day festivities that kicked off last February 18-19, 2011, aimed to mix traditional and new-age arts and culture with out-of-this-world musical performances. An outdoor concert and celebration of art in its different forms, the event gave birth to unconventional shows that made its spectators wanting, no, thirsty and hungry for more.

Performers for the said event include SinoSikat, DJ Complex, Kawangis ng Tribu, Radioactive Sago Project, Up Dharma DownChillitees, Eureka the Butcher, Brigada, Smilar Objects, Badkiss, Akasha, DJ Kintaro, Tokyo Jazz Massive, Mars Volta, Cocojam, Junior Kilat, Joe Bataan, and Waway Saway among others.

The foot of Mt. Malasimbo in Puerto Galera served as the venue for the music and arts festival that is slowly becoming a household name with a breathtaking view of the pristine white beach that Puerto Galera has always been famous for. In the morning, participants get to swim to their hearts’ content and tan themselves under the gorgeous sun. As soon as the sun sets, all roads lead to the mountain, and the musical event of the millennium begins.

Apparently, last year’s Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is not enough for everyone that last March 2-4, 2012, Volume Unit Entertainment once again proved that they are on top of their game. Producing yet another successful Malasimbo, this time with three different venues: one high up in the mountains, another one nestled amidst a historic Mangyan Village, and the last, on a boat. You got that right, for this year’s festival included a boat party dubbed as the “Liki Tiki Malasimboat Party”.

Like Google is to search, the coined term Malasimbo is now synonymous to “an outrageously out-of-this-world arts and music experience”. Indeed, Malasimbo is here to stay.

Now, for its next project, VUE will take the metropolis by storm. On May 1, 2012, Tuesday, in cooperation with Sofitel Philippine Plaza, TicketWorld, Universal Zulu Nation, and the Department of Tourism, the Manila Music Festival will make its mark. An estimated 5,000 people will head on to Alphaland Bay City Grounds in Aseana Avenue, Paranaque, to witness yet another milestone in our country’s musical history. Bands, disk jockeys (DJs), and solo performers from all over head over to witness and enjoy one of the most prosperous and thriving music industry in the whole world. The Manila Music Festival is bound to be an explosion of notes, melodies, lyrics, and vocal cords from all categories.

Volume Unit Media only has two roles: change-making, which they did; and putting up a great awesome show that not only exceeds expectations, but also defies all limits of creativity.
