Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez made it to the Top 7 of “American Idol” on Thursday (Friday morning in Manila) after she was declared safe, along with duet partner Joshua Ledet.

The 16-year-old impressed the judges and voters with her duet with Ledet during the American Idol ’80s Night. The duo performed “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me,” originally sung by Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and George Michael.

The two showed off their big voices and played off each other well, prompting judge Jennifer Lopez to describe it as “a dream pairing.”

Lopez went on to add, “I’m looking at them and I’m thinking — final?!”

If you missed Joshua and Jessica’s performance, watch it below:

Meanwhile, the bottom three were Hollie Cavanagh, DeAndre Brackensick and Elise Testone. Unfortunately, Deandre Brackensick was eliminated after earning the lowest amount of votes and failing to get the judges’ save.

The American Idol Season 11 Top 7 are revealed. Making the Top 7 on American Idol this year are:

Colton Dixon, Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, and Skylar Laine

What did you think of tonight’s elimination? Did the right singer get sent home? At this point, who do you think is in line to win?

Honestly, I would have thought Hollie would be booted off this week. I liked DeAndre’s performance better than Hollie’s. 🙁

my thoughts exactly, sis! =) DeAndre Brackensick should haven’t been eliminated. He was way better than Hollie!

Also, I think Elise is the dark horse at this time. I love Colton, and Phillip and I think Skylar is great even from the start. Joshua reminds me of Jacob Lusk but he’ll get far because he’s got such great range. Elise though, being in the bottom a couple of times, seems to be improving a LOT and FAST! I can’t wait for the next episode!!

I like Skylar too! But I think it’s going to be a battle between Phillip Phillips, Colton Dixon and Jessica Sanchez.

Funny, Joshua reminds me of Roderick Paulate… I don’t know why =)
