Stressing over your dream wedding? Wondering where to find the best invitation makers, photographers and make-up artists? Feeling overwhelmed in planning your perfect wedding? Clueless on how to start?
This article will give you some tips on how to plan your own dream wedding.
- Book your chosen Church
If you and your boyfriend have agreed you want to marry one another, book the date as early as possible. It’s best to make contact with the church at the same time as your reception venue, so you can synchronise on the date.
- Design your budget
Create a budget. Plan one that is cost effective and leaves room for flexibility. You will need to determine the number of guests you would like. For inexpensive wedding planning, try to plan off season (any month except June- August). You can also try to have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday.
- Attend Bridal Fairs
You get to see examples of local vendors’ work, taste samples of cakes and foods, and collect brochures and literature. The best thing about attending wedding fairs is getting huge discounts so better check those wedding photography prices.
- Make a guest list
Depending on the budget you may have to compromise on the number of guests attending. Start sending save the date notices either by postal mail, email or create your own wedding site with details about your upcoming nuptials.
- Start looking for a dress and wedding rings
Choose a dress and wedding attire for the rest of the wedding party. This should be done at least 8 months prior to the wedding. Do you want a casual, formal, or a non- traditional wedding? What will be the wedding theme/colors? Order your engagement and/or wedding rings.
- Complete your marriage registration
Check state requirements for obtaining a marriage license, and find out how long the license will remain valid.
- Invitations
Once you have your date, time and place order your invitations. You can send the actual invitations about 3 months before the wedding date.
- Book Your Vendors
Choose and book your vendors: cake baker, photographer, videographer, DJ/Band, transportation and florist. The top vendors get booked almost as fast as locations so you want to plan as far ahead as possible.
Planning your wedding will be fun but not easy. Of course, you want to look your best on your wedding day, so don’t tire yourself out making all the preparations yourself. You may hire wedding planners or coordinators just for the wedding day or you may hire a professional wedding planner to take care of all the creative aspects of your wedding.
- Relax
Last week before the wedding: RELAX! Enjoy your time with your fiance and your friends to help calm pre-wedding jitters.
