Whether you are one of the Green-blooded Lasalistas or Blue-blooded Atenistas or just an ordinary fan, here’s a musical show that is a must to watch – the Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical.
The story is about two families, who are both loyal to their respective Alma Mater.
The Basilio family:
- headed by their Green-blooded father Demetrio;
- his wife Dolores;
- and their son Tommy, who is the star basketball player of the La Salle Senior Basketball Team
On the other hand, the Valencia family:
- led by their Blue-blooded head of the family, Anton;
- his wife Andrea;
- and their two sons named Paco, who is the star player of the Ateneo Senior Basketball Team and Quito, who is a very passionate and active member of the Social Order Club, a consistent Honor Student and a Class President
It is important to take note that Dolores and Andrea (the wives) are sisters. Despite being closely related, their relationship with is other brought much tension that made the musical more interesting. It is a serious musical show that tackles almost every aspect of being a Lasalista and being an Atenista and how and why the rivalry started since 1968, when Ateneo and La Salle were still part of the NCAA.
Although the mood was set to serious, a lot of “hirits” or comments were expressed that made the crowd cheered, whether for La Salle or for Ateneo. The show was seasoned with love with the presence of a Maryknoller, who became the love interest of cousins, Quito and Tommy, where another rivalry happened.
Now, the question is who won the Maryknoller? As a Maryknoller/Miriamite myself, it is but common for us during our college days to hope (and dream) of having either an Atenean or Lasallian boyfriend. You know, those were the days, (and even until the present) where college girls ideal man must come from either school (La Salle or Ateneo).
Going back to the Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical, at the end of the day, the only question that remains is: Who won between the Lasalista and the Atenista? The answer will be revealed if you watch this very interesting and entertaining musical,.Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical.
