Tips: How to Get Rid of Bad Odor from Your Hands

My family and I love to eat in Tamerlanes. It’s a small restaurant in Antipolo where you will eat using your bare hands, no spoon and fork. Tamerlanes’ specialties are grilled squid, ensalada (Green Mango, Tomato & Bagoong Salad), grilled catfish and more.

I really love the food at Tamerlanes, but I hate the smell of my hand after eating. Just like when cutting onions/garlic or cleaning fish, our hands can take on the odor and it is difficult to get rid of. No amount of hand soap can remove the smell.

So What Should You Do When Your Hands Smell Bad?

Stainless Steel Items

An easy way to remove these smells from your hands is to soap them up and rub them along stainless steel faucets or knife. It really does work but it must be stainless steel that you’re rubbing, and not any other metal. In some countries, shops carry stainless steel soaps. The so-called ‘soap’ is just a chunk of stainless steel that shaped like a bar of soap.

Lemons and Limes

Don’t have stainless steel utensils on hand? Squeeze the juice of lemons into a bowl. Dip your hands in the liquid concentrate for 3 minutes, then rinse off.

Baking Powder
Put two tablespoons of baking powder into a glass of water and stir. Soak your smelly hands, one by one, for half-a-minute. This simple approach should remove garlic, onion or fish odors.
