Soundfreaq Sound Platform SFQ-01 Specs, Price, Review

I’m always amazed with what we can do with technology these days. Like the Bluetooth, before it was used just for making hands-free calls. But now, Bluetooth allows you to stream music from your cell phones, computers and laptop to a wireless speaker through the technology called Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). A2DP is a Bluetooth profile that allows high quality audio (stereo or mono) be streamed from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection. For example, music can be streamed from a mobile phone, to a wireless headset, hearing aid & cochlear implant streamer, or car audio or from a laptop/desktop to a wireless headset or wireless speaker.

And speaking of wireless speaker, I recently got a chance to looked at (and listened to) the Soundfreaq SFQ-01 Sound Platform.

Designed for music lovers like me, Soundfreaq’s SFQ-1 Sound Platform Bluetooth Wireless Audio System delivers high-Fidelity sound performance with the convenience of Bluetooth wireless. It is also acoustically balanced to complement every genre, at any volume.

Design:  SFQ-01 measures 11.8” wide by 5.9” and weighs 7.2 pounds. At the side, you’ll find the hidden compartment where you can “magnetically” store the remote control.   It is sleek and modern looking with minimalist design, the back of Sound Platform kind of reminds me of the old radio transistors. =)

Connectivity: Soundfreaq SFQ-01 Sound Platform perfectly works with Bluetooth. Pairing your device with Sound Platform is so easy; there’s no need for passwords or complicated instructions. The Sound Platform is designed not only for today’s wireless devices, but also for future devices with Bluetooth capabilities.

Sound Quality: I tested the device using an iPod, an iPhone, an iPad and a LG Optimus 2x. All I can say is wow! It really sounds great for such a small speaker.  The sound quality is brilliant, especially at high volumes using a feature called ‘U-Cubed’, or UQ3, a proprietary technology which makes it sound more like surround sound than a compact desktop/ordinary speaker.

Cons: I honestly can’t think of any downsides. Hmmm, the dock only works with Apple products? But you can always go wireless, right?

Summary: Impressive clear sound! The wireless feature makes it even better.
