Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Yay! My favorite pirate movie is back, not the kind of pirates that steal or buy gold coins. But the pirate with a smart witty humor that adults as well as smart kids can appreciate. Yes, I’m talking about Jack Sparrow.

I was one of the lucky people to have watched the fourth installment of Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean on its advance screening last May 19, 2011. Yes, it has finally reached the Philippine “shore” and regularly showing on May 20, 2011. Take note, you can opt to watch the most awaited movie of the year, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, either on IMAX 3D, Digital 3D or in a regular format. The film is brought to us by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a must-see fantasy and adventure movie as this is the first in the “Pirates” to be shot in Disney Digital 3D™ plus the first all live-action, epic outdoor adventure shot on Red 3D cameras. Mythical characters, such as the beautiful but dangerous mermaids, made the movie more interesting and fun to watch together with the new characters like Blackbeard (Ian McShane), the ultimate pirate villain, Syrena (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey), the mystical mermaid and Philip (Sam Claflin), the young mysterious missionary. Another thing to watch out for in the movie is the first historical ship to be represented in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise, which is the fully functional Queen Anne’s Revenge where Tamayo Perry, a world class competitive surfer, together with the Filipino-American actor, Michael Rosales, played as one of the crewmen. Also starred in the movie is another Filipino-American actress, Daphne Joy, who is one of the mermaids.

Jack Sparrow and his pirate pals will bring us to the islands of Hawaii like Kauai and Oahu, then to Puerto Rico, Palominito (a small island off the island’s east coast) and to the non-tropical nature, Great Britain, where scenes were shot. Not to mention that it is the biggest movie to ever film at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, shooting more of the complex than any previous production.

Johnny Depp playing the role of the infamous Capt. Jack Sparrow never fails to amaze me. This time, the 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean has a fresh story line. Unlike the first three parts, where the stories were interconnected, this one brings the audience to a new level of adventure of Capt. Jack Sparrow, together with the very first female pirate, Angela, played by the award-winning actress, Penelope Cruz, who is a con-artist from Jack Sparrow’s past.

According to Cruz, it was a sort of reunion for her and Depp after their last movie together entitled “Blow”, ten years ago. She also added that both of them are happy and excited to have worked together once again. Cruz also shared that she has trained for two months prior to the scheduled shooting to master her role and the moves of a perfect female pirate in the movie.

Notable Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, together with director Rob Marshall, will surely bring you fun and adventure from start to finish as you will enjoy how Angelica and Capt. Jack Sparrow argue every now and then and tricking one another but helping each other in the process to find the “Fountain of Youth”.

I guess you’re curiosity is starting to rise now and you are already itching to grab a seat at the nearest theater to watch the movie. So, what can I say? Enjoy! Don’t forget the popcorns!
