When I saw the trailer of The Green Hornet, I was very excited to see the movie.  So, when I received an invite for a special screening of The Green Hornet, I didn’t have to think twice: I said yes.

And it didn’t disappoint me. I love every second of the movie and how the character of The Green Hornet even came to be in the movie.

Seth Rogen was hilarious as (Britt Reid) a buffoonish, almost Maxwell Smart-ish hero, with a childlike ego.

While Jay Chou was great as Kato. He really standout in his role, not just be being a genius mechanic/coffee brewmaster/martial artist but also with his effortless coolness. Like director Michel Gondry said “The Green Hornet is ‘the hero,’ but it’s Kato who does everything.  That’s a great twist on the hero-sidekick thing – the sidekick is the real hero, but he gets no credit.”

Seth Rogen and Jay Chou have a very unusual chemistry, but it works on screen.

Overall, The Green Hornet is entertaining and worth seeing. It has a great cast, awesome fight scenes and explosions.

Speaking of fight scenes and explosions, what do you think about the action sequences in the movie? Are they realistic? Is it possible in real life?

Well then, let the MythBusters show you…

On Friday, January 28 at 8:00 PM, Discovery channel’s Mythbusters will feature a Green Hornet Special episode with the insanely awesome Seth Rogen to bust two myths concerning the “Explosive Escape” and the “Elevator Car Cut” scenes.

First up is “Explosive Escape,” where The Green Hornet and his tech-savvy sidekick Kato are buried alive in the Green Hornet’s iconic car Black Beauty and blast their way out using the car’s built-in rockets. Adam, Jamie and Seth re-create this explosive silver screen scene… with a little TNT party.

Then, in “Elevator Car Cut,” Seth requests that Kari, Grant and Tory take on another action sequence from the movie, where The Green Hornet and Kato again find themselves in a jam. After being shot up by bad guys they crash into an elevator. As the elevator ascends, it slices the car in half, leaving them to escape in the front half of the car. To test this scene, the team build their own elevator from 3 ½ tons of steel, chop a car in half and take half a car to the racetrack.

The MythBusters Green Hornet Special episode premieres Friday, January 28 at 8:00 PM SIN/HK on Discovery Channel.

  1. I saw this in 3D, what a waste! nothing special about that except for small parts of the action scenes, not really worth the price. Some of the action scenes were cool, but not enough to save this movie from being a failure. Also, Cameron Diaz role was unnecessary and she was just one of the marketing aspects of this movie. The whole thing was a Hollywood joke, just too much Hollywood! please don’t buy into the big billboards and the charming adds, because this movie really isn’t good. BUSTED
