Co-creator Ryan Murphy called it the “best episode we’ve done, Glee episode “Grilled Cheesus” is set to tackle religion and faith.
USA Today’s Robert Bianco deemed it one of the best episodes of the new season, a “silly, funny and, yes, potentially upsetting trick, but it provokes a smart, moving, musical exploration of the power and limits of faith and religion in a democratic society — and of our need to find something or someone to believe in.” Bianco praised Chris Colfer and Mike O’Malley, commenting positively on the way Colfer’s singing is used to “dig beneath the archness and anger in Kurt’s behavior”, calling it “a textbook example of what music can add to drama.”
Grilled Cheesus will showcase religious-themed songs like R.E.M.‘s “Losing My Religion“, Joan Osborne‘s “One of Us“, Whitney Houston‘s “I Look to You“, Billy Joel‘s “Only the Good Die Young“, Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Bridge over Troubled Water” as covered by Aretha Franklin, The Beatles‘ “I Want to Hold Your Hand“, and “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” as performed by Barbra Streisand in the musical film Yentl. All songs performed were released as singles, available for download

Gossips had been flying that popular music sitcom show “Glee” would address religion, and it did within the “Glee Grilled Cheesus” episode. The beginning is innocuous enough with a character making a sandwich.
Musical sitcom tackles big topics in Glee Grilled Cheesus.A grill produces a grilled cheese sandwich with a charred likeness of Jesus. The sandwich is dubbed "grilled cheesus" for the rest of the episode. There have been actual individuals that have produced a "grilled cheesus," in fact. That said, the sandwich isn't sold on eBay like one of the non-fictional counterparts. The episode ends with the devouring of said sandwich.
oh this reminds me, we still have many episodes to watch!
