The first Crystal Jade Restaurant in Manila, Philippines is set to open on September 13, 2010. This is bound to make history as Crystal Jade, which originated from Singapore, has been recently labeled to as the Superbrand. Aside from this, it has been awarded, too, as the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand, garnered Gold in the Family Restaurant category, the Top CitiBusiness Regional Brands and Top Established Brands at the Singapore Prestige Brand Awards in 2009. Likewise, won the People’s Choice Award as the Best Chinese Restaurant and Best Service Eatery in Singapore Press holdings Limited’s Asiaone.com. These and more has been associated with Crystal Jade since it was established in Singapore in 1991.
I was one of the lucky bloggers who was invited to taste fourteen (14) of the best dishes that Crystal Jade Restaurant is known for during a food blogging event. I can say that all of them are delicious and served to satisfy the customers’ gastronomical needs. Food service is superb that you’ll feel that they live and exist to make the guests special and pamper them with good food.

Anyway, when the food is already served, I grabbed a Xiao Long Bao, a steamed soupy pork dumpling that Crystal Jade is well-known for. “Xiao long bao” is a Chinese word which means “small basket dumpling” as the dumpling is steamed in a bamboo basket. Each mouthwatering dumpling appetizingly comes with smooth soft skin, filled with the freshest tender meat and tasty soupy broth that result to a unique taste that every diner of Crystal Jade should never miss.

Before I munch all the dumplings served in a sweet sauce, I tried the crispy eel wuxy style, which has a sweet taste and it perfectly suited my taste buds. I also had the Lanzhou, a handmade noodle and one of the Crystal Jade’s prides. The noodles has this texture that I can’t explain but tasted good on my palate, maybe because it’s genuinely handmade.
Other food that I’ve tasted are string beans, Beancurd w chilli, Nanjing Duck, soufflé balls, Stew Pork, SiChuan Soup, radish pastry, pan fried Shang Hai pork dumpling, mango pudding, cold cucumber and Beijing dumpling, among others. I really like all of them, but among them, my most favorite are dumplings and crispy eel wuxy style! Can’t wait to try them again.
Watch out for the seven master chefs from Hong Kong that will serve nothing but only the best authentic Chinese cuisines. Being hailed as the ultimate seat of Chinese Food Fare, Crystal Jade will certainly capture the heart of every food lover.

To die for! The Xiao Long Bao and the La Mien spicy chicken noodles are so good that it is a culinary experience. However, the service sucks. I guess all the waiters are named Trainee. You spend a lot more time looking for a waiter to take your orders then later on to bring you your bill. As usual, no system like our traffic in Manila. Wait for about two more months then you will appreciate Crystal Jade a lot more when the crowds have thinned out and the waiters have had their training. Right now it looks like they were the Swat team at Luneta.
nakaka gutom! i love dumplings!
