The Last Song Movie Review

Have you seen the movie The Notebook? If you did, then I’m sure you’ll going to appreciate this new movie, The Last Song, which stars mainly the singer, Miley Cyrus. These two movies (The Notebook and The Last Song) was based on a novel written by Nicholas Sparks.

Nicholas Sparks, is here once again to give us another heart-warming story from his book entitled The Last Song, which have the same movie title. This time, Sparks came up with another touching story that evolved around a seventeen year old rebellious young girl named Veronica “Ronnie” Miller, played by Miley Cyrus, who was reconnected with her estranged father, Steve Miller, played by Greg Kinnear. They were once close with each other as her father taught Ronnie how to play the piano. But when her father left them for some reason, Ronnie refused to play the instrument again and even refused to attend school.

Anyway, The Last Song is distributed by Touchstone Pictures and is directed by Julie Anne Robinson. This movie is also something to be watched out as Sparks, himself, did the screen play for the first time together with Jeff Van Wie. Also starring in this drama film are Liam Hemsworth, Greg Kinnear, Kelly Preston and Bobby Coleman.

In this film, Miley Cyrus (Ronnie) played a role of an “emo” teenage girl complete with black outfits, a nose stud and coupled with bad attitude. Together with Ronnie, who was sent to her father (Kinnear), was her little brother Jonah. At first, Ronnie was hostile to everybody around her, especially to her father as brought about by previous family issues. But in the end, the father and his daughter managed to bring the good relationship with each other again through their common passion – their love for music.

During this summer vacation, Ronnie accidentally met the love of her life when she fell in love unexpectedly with the handsome and popular guy in school, Will Blakelee (Liam Hemsworth). The whirlwind romance also helped Ronnie changed her perspectives in life, as well as, a new brighter outlook.

Miley Cyrus as Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller with Liam Hemsworth as Will Blakelee star in Julie Anne Robinson drama 'The Last Song.'

Great character development in this film which makes it more satisfying than Dear John. The director did a great job of showing the actors at their best. The actors did a good job! Thumbs up for this movie.

Now, I can’t wait to fall in love again this summer…

The Last Song hits Philippine cinemas on May 12th!
