Last week, I went to my OBgyn to have my check up. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is one of the most common endocrine disorders in the human-affecting approximately10% of women in reproductive age. PCOS is characterized by the presence of multiple immature follicles in the ovary, which are not released.
Patients with PCOS may experience one or more of the following signs and symptomss:
a. Menstrual irregularities
b. obesity (Now I know why I’m having a hard time looking for diets that work)
c. insulin resistance and diabetes
d. infertility
e. hyperandrogenism
The doctor prescribed some medicine, but I still have to undergo some lab tests. Also, the doctor told me that a balanced nutritious diet and regular exercise are crucial factors for better management of PCOS symptoms.

I know a lot of people with PCOS, even single ladies, but they are able to manage it well. Just have a regular check up with the doc and follow her/his advice. Go easy! *hugz*
You are not alone, Iris. I was diagnosed with the same problem. Upon knowing it, I asked my OB immediately, “Magkaka-anak pa po ba ako?” She answered me with so much confidence, “Aba! Oo naman! Marami na akong pasyenteng may ganyan na nagka-baby naman!”
Isa sa mga advice nya ay andito: http://thisisformybikini.blogspot.com/2010/02/doctor-says-lose-weight.html.
