MCA MUSIC Artists Emerge Victorious In The First Philippine Radio Music Awards

The onset of June engraved its mark in history as the First ever Philippine Radio Music Awards took place at the Skydome of SM North EDSA.

The night was filled with overflowing cocktails, a light and laid-back crowd, which actually became a gathering of the head honchos from the radio, music and entertainment industry, and jam-packed with performances from various artists.

The results of the event proved to be a success for MCA Music as 2 of its homegrown talents bagged awards from major categories. After delivering an awe-inspiring opening performance, the country’s award-winning crooner, RICHARD POON proved to be a master of his craft. Going up against other talented acts such as Rico Blanco and Hilera, Richard stood by his title by clinching the award for “Breakthrough Artist” for the song “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko.” With the continuous success of his Platinum status “I’ll Take Care of You Platinum Edition” album, as well as the nearing Gold Status “For You” album, triumph is soaring high for our ONLY award-winning crooner!

The string of success goes on for Richard as he impressed and left the Japanese audience in sheer excitement during his performance in the 111th Phil Independence Day Celebration held last June 19 at the Mariner’s Court in Tokyo Japan. Astonishing not only his fellow Pinoys, Richard also delighted the Japanese locals and left them asking for more as he sang standards, OPM hits and medleys, taking people to a reminiscent trail down memory lane. Richard also escorted no less than the President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on stage while singing the refrain of “Ang Bayan Ko.” The crooner is now all hyped up preparing for his upcoming US and Dubai tour happening in July.

Miguel Escueta rocked the crowed and enveloped the venue with syndicating beats and throbbing bass lines as he performed his hits “Blue Monday”, and his current single off of his “I Am ME Amplified Album” entitled “Balik Simula.” Energies ran high, the crowd was pumped up, and the venue was filled with applause as MIGUEL ESCUETA bagged the award for “Best Alternative Solo Act” for “Blue Monday” beating other big industry names such as Rico Blanco and Kitchie Nadal.

With big plans in the works and a new music video out for “Balik Simula”, things are looking up for this undeniably talented youngblood. He is slated to come out with a new offering in the later part of the year, and his new music video “Balik Simula” is gaining massive airplay on both television and radio. Continue to support Miguel’s Balik Simula by keying in MYX VOTE BALIK SIMULA and send to 2366.

The night fulfilled its purpose. History was made. And just like what RMA’s mission is – “The mission statement is simple, but represents the heart and soul of the organization’s efforts: to positively impact and encourage the lives of musicians, Industry members, and our society at large to produce music that will be globally accepted; improving the quality of OPM music for global standard and for export.” (http://www.radiomusicawards.com.ph) – And that, it did. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of the First ever Philippine Radio Music Awards.
