Last Thursday was the preliminary presentation held in Malanday Bay Resort in Las Vegas where the Top 15 Miss Universe 2010 has been selected.

Who among the top 15 will be the Miss Universe 2010 top 5? Based on online surveys, Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj is still on top of the survey, followed by Miss Bolivia Claudia Arce Lemaitre and Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson on the third spot. Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj was one of the most applauded contestants during the event. However, the online survey has nothing to do with the final result of the pageant.

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. This year’s shower should peak on the night of August 12 and the morning of the 13th, but you may be able to see some meteors any time from July 23 – August 22. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. The thin, crescent moon will be out of the way early, setting the stage for a potentially spectacular show. For best viewing, look to the northeast after midnight.

Every year in early August, we can observe the Perseid meteor shower (“the Perseids”), and it’s a fascinating sky event.

This year 2010, the Perseid peak activity is expected over the night of Thursday 12th to Friday 13th 2010. And with no moonlight to speak of (the Moon is new on August 10th), conditions should be very favorable, weather permitting.

Vincent Smith II, 29, of Camden, was standing on a nine-foot-high platform loading chunks of raw chocolate into a melting tank at Cocoa Services in Camden, N.J.

Smith fell around 10:30 in the morning. Coworkers acted quickly to try and save Smith. One rushed to turn the machine off and the two others tried to pull him out.

However, Smith was already struck in the head by an agitator and killed.

The rectangular vat, which was 8 feet deep, 14 feet long and 6 feet wide, was churning a batch of chocolate for Hershey’s when the accident occurred, Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, said.

Lyon & Sons mixes and melts raw chocolate for use by food and candy manufacturers such as Hershey Foods. The plant was quickly shut down for the day following the accident.

The Gay Pride March NYC Pride March is an annual March more commonly referred to as the Parade in New York City, traversing southward down Fifth Avenue and ending at Greenwich Village.

The original purpose of this parade was to commemorate the riots at  a popular gay and lesbian bar called the Stonewall Inn  that became the epicenter for violent protests against the unlawful treatment that gays and lesbians suffered at the hands of the New York City police department.
