SM Supermalls have been actively participating in and even spearheading various environmental projects nationwide over the years; one of these activities is the Earth Day. Through Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNPI), a loose coalition between the government, civil society and churches, SM Supermalls have become the venue of this worldwide celebration.
Jen and I went to SM Megamall Event Center last April 16, 2013 to witness the opening program for the “Earth Day 2013 @ SM“. The registration started at 10AM, where DENR Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje and EDNPI Chair and President Roberto Guevara gave their respective messages related to the celebration. Then around 12noon the booths were formally opened and cocktails were served. Election here in the country will come in less than two weeks and several methods have been devised to conduct surveys to determine who among the candidates will most likely make it to their chosen government positions. Surveys have been found effective in predicting the election winners for years thus the reason why some ‘wealthy” candidates and parties have commissioned such surveys.
Anyway, in line with this, the global convenience store giant here in the country, the 7-Eleven, has developed its own style of conducting similar survey. The 7-Election promo was launched last March 20, 2013 for the upcoming senatorial battle. SM Foundation Inc., granted 100 pairs of Rubber Slippers for the depressed communities in Buenavista. Activity includes feeding and gift-giving of our less fortunate kababayans.
