Ageing is an unstoppable change that we must face. Still there’s a lot that we can do to fight the negative effects that ageing brings, especially to our body. One of the most common problems that people encounter when they “age” is bone deterioration, specifically, the density of our bones. Now, this single problem will then lead to numerous bone-related conditions such as osteoarthritis that can affect our day to day living and even hamper our routines.
For this reason, I was glad that I was privileged to attend the interactive launching of the new Anlene Total at Beyond Yoga Studio on the 3rd Floor of the IL Terrazo Building in Quezon City. I know that milk is the best prevention to bone and joint problems like osteoporosis and osteoarthritis that is why I was excited to attend the launching. Actually, I can say that it was an intimate launching because there were less than twenty (20) participants composed mainly of bloggers and media.
The Anlene Total launching event was hosted by Issa Litton and Marc Nelson. They were very good hosts and funny, too that they made the launching informative but not boring. I think it also helped to encourage participants to take part on the launching and participate on the activities prepared. The hosts talked about the wear and tear of our joints, especially when we are ageing and that production of Glucosamine in our body becomes insufficient.
FYI, Glucosamine is a natural fluid produced in the human body that surrounds the joints. It plays an important role in building cartilage that cushions our joints. In addition, Glucosamine is said to be an effective treatment for osteoarthritis (OA), which is a type of joint inflammation (arthritis) that occurs when cartilage breaks down and/or is lost because of either injury or just due to the normal wear and tear (which is common as we age).
After the introduction, Mark Wood was introduced, a Master Fitness Trainer from California. Then after a while, we were led to a room where we were requested to do some “joint exercises” such as squatting and lunging. Mark Wood mentioned that these kinds of ordinary tasks/movements that we do can cause pressure to our body and our joints. For instance, going downstairs can put up to 5x the pressure of our bod weight on our knees; therefore it is deemed important to protect our bones and joints; and milk can help us.
Now, this is where Anlene Total comes in. ANLENE TOTAL‘s unique combination of Nano-Calcium & Glucosamine help maintain strong bones, as well as helps fortify cartilage in joints, protecting them against damage caused by everyday physical activities. It contains twice the Calcium as compared to other milk formula and it is added with Glucosamine to help protect not just our bones but our joints, as well! 2 glasses of Anlene a day provide 1,200mg of calcium and 500mg of Glucosamine.
Anyway, after the stretching exercises, we returned to the lobby for the Q&A session with Dr Francis Altarejos, the Vice-Chairman of the Philippine Board of Orthopaedics, Angela Pablo, the Nutrition Manager of Fonterra Brands Philippines and Mary Louise Liao, the Assistant Brand Manager of Anlene.
Dr. Altarejos mentioned that one of the known joint problems is osteoarthritis (OA) and in order to prevent OA, it is necessary to drink milk. He even emphasized that when we start to drink milk at a younger age the better; exercise is likewise advised. On the other hand, Ms. Pablo expressed that Anlene Total is safe for mothers who are breastfeeding and added that it is still better to consult the doctor. On the other hand, Mary Louise Liao said that she was glad that someone brought up the concern regarding lactose-intolerance. Since Anlene Total is still Lactose based, she noted the concern and said that those lactose-intolerant consumers will be taken into consideration, as well as the milk flavor, too.
Before the event ended, participants were encouraged to join the Anti-gravity yoga. Some participated and told us that they love the experience, while others, including me, didn’t have the courage to do so because we were not ready and I’m scared of falling. Actually, Marc Nelson took an extra effort to encourage us to try it but I think that kind of yoga was not really for me.
Personally, I love milk, but since I am lactose-intolerant, I am just contented with Anchor milk. On a side note, when I mentioned this to my co-blogger, she told me that Fonterra is also the maker of Anchor. By the way, I still tried Anlene Total when we were given free samples and I like its tastes, it’s very creamy, not to mention that it’s a low-fat powdered milk product
