The Bukas Palad Music Ministry, the Catholic Mass Media Awards winner behind such tunes as Sa ‘Yo Lamang, Tanging Yaman, Humayo’t Ihayag, and Hindi Kita Malilimutan, will launch its latest album titled Christify via a Mass and free concert on Sunday, August 29, 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Gesu, Ateneo de Manila University.
A collection of 10 new songs for liturgy and worship, Christify is the group’s 15th studio album, and the second of three CDs that Bukas Palad is producing to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2011. Continuing the choir’s mission of contributing to the repertoire of Filipino liturgical music, Christify contains new hymns for use in the different parts of the Mass. It is also accompanied by a songbook with choral arrangements and liturgical notes for all the tracks in the album.
Seeking more ways to reinvigorate the Filipino spirit through song, Bukas Palad writes, records, and performs religious tunes, releasing albums that help supply the growing need for more meaningful music. Founded in 1986 by Fr. Manoling Francisco SJ, Norman Agatep, and Jandi Arboleda, the group has also collaborated with artists Lea Salonga, Noel Cabangon, Jett Pangan, Cookie Chua, and Regine Velasquez to give the group’s recordings greater mass appeal.
Christify is produced by the Jesuit Music Ministry, and is available at Universal Records outlets.
