Miss You Like Crazy Movie Review

February 24, 2010 By Mommy Iris 20 Comments

Could you really fall in love with a stranger in a matter of days? Can a whirlwind romance survive? Is there really such a thing as right time when it comes to falling in love?

These are the questions the movie Miss You Like Crazy tries to answer.

Everything is falling into place for Alan Alvarez (John Lloyd Cruz). With an impending high ranking promotion and four years of stable relationship with his dream girl, Daphne Recto (Maricar Reyes), he is at the cusp of getting everything he’s always wanted.

Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) is getting tired of her forlorn life. She is back to Manila for the holidays after working hard for two years as a front desk officer in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With the hopes of getting the chance to finally have a break, her family gets into another crisis that leaves her hopeless and fated.

Two individuals with seemingly predestined lives suddenly find their paths crossing on a ferry boat ride that will change the course of their journeys forever. But will the whirlwind romance of Alan and Mia survive? Are they willing to live out their destiny or do they choose to do what’s right? Find out what happens to Alan and Mia in “Miss You Like Crazy,” in theaters this February 24, 2010.

Miss You like Crazy is about fate and faith, time and timing. It has a good balance of tear-jerking moments.  Plus how the story is portrayed and told is great.

The actors all fulfill their roles. They held their roles wonderfully and left a lasting impression of each of their characters. Gerald Hans Isaac (Malaysian Actor) has some great acting skills. There was one Bea-Gerald Hans Isaac heart-touching scene that made me cry.

Director Cathy Garcia was able to make us fully feel for the characters and their ordeal.

Most of us know how good John Lloyd as an actor. And Bea Alonzo is really improving (I am not saying she’s not good before). But this time she really puts so much into her character that the character becomes so real. Bea  is so pretty especially on those scenes that were shot in Malaysia.

No questions asked, John Lloyd and Bea certainly haven’t lost their on screen chemistry as they will will make you laugh and cry with Star Cinema’s latest offering Miss You Like Crazy.

I’ll rate 4 out of 5 stars because of the fantastic casts and nice smooth flow of the movie. This movie is worth watching.

Kudos to John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, Star Cinema, Staff and Crew for a job well done. Thanks Ms. Lorelie Dionisio-Piravalasamy for the premiere night tickets.

Miss You Like Crazy opens in Philippine theaters on February 24, 2010.

“Isa lang ang puso mo, kaya dapat isa lang ang laman niyan.”
“Time is meaningless when you are in love.”
“If you have faith in your love, let fate take its course.”
“And don’t forget: This is the Day. Believe.”
“”Kung pinagtagpo man tayo ulit maybe it’s not for happy ending. Maybe it’s just a second chance to end things. Kasi pag tuwing pinipilit nating magkasama tayong dalawa lagi tayong may taong nasasaktan. Diba?” ”

Is this a review? It’s more of a summary of the movie and observations of the actors but not in ways that you review how good or bad the movie in general. Anyways, more power, i do hope next time you refrain from telling the story. Just review it for the sake of your countrymen outside the Philippines (OFWs) who are waiting for the release of the movie in their respective countries.

    Hi Grayscale,

    Thank you for your comment.

Although I have a long synopsis, I am sure I did not give away the crucial points of the story and that all I did was give my readers something to think about with regards to this movie.

but I see your point and I will keep your suggestion in mind next time.

    Thanks
    Iris

“Bakit ba tayo may second chance? Maybe because this is not for us to have happy ending… But to end things right.” ito pala ang tama <3

    Hi iris,

    Thanks for the reply… thanks..

I have nothing against your review actually, I found it nice and interesting. I was also ashamed when I re-read my reaction because you’re the only reviewer that observed about how the artists improved their acting compared to some reviews I’ve read.

Unfortunately, the movie won’t be shown here in Alberta, Canada so your review was helpful to me and hopefully for some Pinoys abroad who will not be able to watch the movie on the big screen. So we will wait for it on TFC or on some Filipino stores that sells original dvd here. Thank you.

    Again, I apologize.

Great Movie! And really touching.. When the heartbreaking scenes started, napaluha na talaga ako!!! my only comment is that at first, I didn’t like Bea’s acting… Nung mejo kanto girl ung character… She kinda acted like she’s trying hard and it shows, ang OA.. Pero nung drama scenes na… It was all GOOD!!! Kudos to all of you! =)

We were actually kind of let down after people talked it up too much, I still thought it was a pretty good watch. My sister loved it though. To each their own.

Hmmm, Im trying to avoid this movie before.. But recently this April 12,2011 my gf nung grade 6 and me got a connection after almost 20yrs.. I’m married and she’s married too.. She’s living a good life kaya sabi ko impossible na may feelings pa sya sa akin at ako sa kanya.. Pero hindi pala, we were like a person na nag ka amnesia and sa araw araw nmin magkausap, something unexpected happened.. We are crazy inlove pa pala with each other. Hmm.. time is really meaningless when you are inlove.. I’m missing my shiela..
