Former Philippine President Cory Aquino passed away

The former President Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco Aquino passed away today at 3:18 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2009 after battling colon cancer for more than a year. She was 76 years old.
“Our mother peacefully passed away at 3:18 a.m. August 1, 2009 of cardio respiratory arrest. She would have wanted us to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and your continued love and support. It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and our country. Hinihiling po ng aming pamilya ang konting panahon para makasama namin ang aming mahal na ina,” a statement from Mrs Aquino’s son, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr.
People Power Icon, Cory Aquino had been suffering from colon cancer for more than a year and recently announced she was refusing further treatment.
Details of the former president’s wake will be announced later, however, there will be candle lighting in Ayala Avenue around 9 in the morning.
